UNDERHILL LADIES U11/U13/U15s : 84 ALL OUT
MIDDLESEX U13 GIRLS : 110-8

Underhill's team comprised players ranging from 10 years old (Daisy Moore & Lily Mallick) to 14 (Hannah, Sagrika and Beth). The team also contained Middx squad players of our own, namely Sagrika (U15s), Daisy (U13s & U11s).
In damp blustery conditions Underhill skipper Hannah Czuprynski won the toss and decided to bat. Hannah and Amy Smith had put on 10 for the first wicket before Amy departed for 1 in the 4th over.
There then followed a partnership of 48 for the second wicket with Hannah doing most of the scoring with some tremendous power hitting, ably supported by 10 year old Daisy Moore whose stylish batting and intelligent running and calling contributed greatly to the growing total. However, once Daisy (bowled by a delivery that bounced twice and rolled) and Sagrika (clean bowled by Middlesex's impressive Emma Benton) had departed there followed a collapse of massive proportions as Underhill slipped from 70-2 to 84 all out in 26 overs.

Underhill then acqutted themselves very well in the field and we were treated to some excellent bowling performances. For a while it seemed that we might just have Middlesex in trouble at 65-8, but the county had saved some of their better batters till the end. These players saw Middlesex home to a two wicket victory as the Underhill total was passed in the 23rd over. We played on and bowled out the remaining overs in order that all involved had a few overs and the Middx total finally finished on 110-8 from the full 30 overs.
Interestingly Underhill actually outscored Middx off the bat (55 to their 49) but the tighter and generally more accurate county bowling made the difference.
Special mention to young Lily Mallick who produced a very good debut display of wicket keeping.

A very worthwhile day out for all......and the sun even came out eventually !

Under 11's Cup

This was a tremeandously exciting start to the season with Winchmore Hill scoring a single off the last ball of the match to snatch a dramatic victory in a game that Barnet had looked like winning for most of the time. Excellent bowling by Joseph Oliver (1 wicket for 6 runs), Daniel Oliver (0 wickets for 13 runs) and James Barber (2 wickets for 9 runs) kept the scoring down but Winchmore Hill hit out at the end and scored 12 runs off the last over to win a nail biting finish. Only William Charlton, who scored 10, managed to bat confidently for Barnet.

Under 15s Cup

Barnet amassed a large total of 172 in their 20 overs chiefly due to 127 not out by Adam Rossington who hit an array of shots including a six out of the ground. Finchley made a gallant effort to keep up with the scoring rate but Barnet generally fielded and bowled better than Finchley. As wickets fell the task became harder and the required rate got beyond Finchley.
An excellent result for Barnet.
